At the end of winter—which can last a long time in the mountains—life and death coexist in the same landscape. Chamois and ibex face the final days of the cold season, while other animals take advantage of what winter has left behind.
As the first warm days arrive, the mountains slowly come to life again. Young ibex begin to engage in playful skirmishes, while the bearded vulture surveys the avalanche fronts in search of food to bring back to its nest.
A young golden eagle is testing its skills: in a few months, it will have to fend for itself. Even a kestrel falls within its range, during these last days of abundance before the cold season returns.
